West Ham are set to offer Jarrod Bowen a “huge” new contract to fend off his growing army of admirers, Football Insider understands.
The 25-year-old has had an outstanding season and is one of the eight nominees for the Premier League player of the season award.
A West Ham source has told Football Insider that the club are planning to open talks with Bowen within weeks as they look to secure him to a new long-term deal.
The contract he signed when he joined from Hull City in January 2020 has three more years remaining.
But West Ham recognise that Bowen is now among the elite forwards in the Premier League and want to reward him with an extension as well as what the source explained will be a “huge” pay rise.
He is on the target list of multiple top-flight clubs, with Liverpool among those keeping close tabs on him while another top-four Premier League club are also believed to have now joined the race.
The London outfit believe a new contract offer will demonstrate their ambition to Bowen as well as keep admirers at bay.
The left-footed attacker has proved outstanding value for money since his £22million arrival from Hull.
This has been his best season yet, with his 49 matches in all competitions yielding 16 goals and 13 assists.
In the Premier League alone, only Mohammed Salah (22 goals and 13 assists) and Harry Kane (15 goals and eight assists) have a higher combined tally than Bowen of 22 (10 goals and 12 assists).
