'Could He Still Go? ' - Expert predicts Spurs response to poss 'Late-Window Bids' for attacker

Tottenham will turn down any late-window bids for Steven Bergwijn amid interest from Ajax.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

According to Sky Sports (20 January), Spurs have rejected a £15million bid from Ajax for the winger.

This came after the 24-year-old scored two last-gasp goals to turn a loss into a win against Leicester City on 19 January.

The winger was rewarded with a start in Spurs’ next game against Chelsea and Wenham now claims Bergwijn is going nowhere.

“These offers from Ajax have been heavily reported and I expected him to go,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s another one, like Matt Doherty, who has finally realised they are already at a big club in Tottenham.

“It’s not just the goals at Leicester, I thought he was very good against Chelsea.

“His running caused two of the Chelsea players to get bookings for bringing him down.

“He looked so sharp, I’m chuffed with him. He’s turned a corner and is now a genuine option for us.

“He actually started as a striker against Chelsea which is really interesting.

“Could he still go? I don’t think there’s any chance of him leaving now.

If there are any late-window bids I expect they will be turned down.”

Bergwijn has contributed three goals and two assists in 14 appearances this season.

His contract expires in June 2025.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has told Tottenham to play ‘politics’ and scrap ‘infuriating’ rule hated by Conte.
