Report: Cavaliers eye Rajon Rondo as Ricky Rubio's replacement

Although he is currently not playing much for the Lakers, Rondo remains as one of the most coveted point guards in the NBA. Shams Sharania from The Athletic revealed that the Cavaliers are already in conversations with the Lakers for Rondo's transfer. Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN completed the information by stating that the deal is expected to be completed by Friday. Two of the biggest NBA sources agree that Rajon Rondo will be on his way to play for Cleveland by this weekend. Cavaliers urgently need a point guard.

Ricky Rubio's absence for the Cleveland Cavaliers isn't the only one for a point guard in the team. Collin Sexton suffered a meniscus tearn on November 7 and will also miss the rest of the season for the team. The reality is that a player of Rondo's characteristics is exactly what the Cavs are missing in order to finish the season with chances to make the playoffs. Even though he is currently in the COVID-19 protocols since December 26, both teams are already negotiating for his transfer.
